Prime Minister Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in his recent visit here inspected Educational Broadband Centre established by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) in partnership with Universal Service Fund (USF) in Jalalpur Pirwala.
Federal Secretary Information and Technology, Saeed Ahmad Khan, Additional Secretary IT, Nadeem Ashraf, General Manager USF, Asif Kamal, and Regional General Manager PTCL Multan, Shakeel Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
PTCL in partnership with USF has taken the initiative for the establishment of 206 educational broadband centres for providing DSL service to educational institutes, and 61 community broadband centres to facilitate the public of rural areas of the telecom region. With the establishment of these centres, not only the awareness regarding information technology will rise in the rural areas of southern Punjab, but will also usher a new developmental era in the entire area.-PR
