Taiwan stocks rise

Taiwan stocks rose 0.25 percent on Friday, with banks such as Mega Financial gaining after regulators said it would allow overseas branches and offshore banking units to conduct business using the Chinese currency. The benchmark TAIEX index ended up 21.60 points at 8,810.00. State-run Mega and First Financial were among the most active shares by volume, both rising 0.4 percent.
Foreign investors were net sellers of Taiwan shares on Thursday, expanding their total net selling this month to T$29.1 billion.
