The Swiss franc surged to fresh all-time highs against the dollar and the euro on Friday as the International Monetary Fund said Switzerland should raise interest rates soon, giving wings to the franc. The franc also hit a record 1.2168 francs per euro on EBS in early trading after Eurogroup President Jean-Claude Juncker raised doubts about the IMF releasing Greece's next round of financial assistance.
The euro later firmed again, pushing back across the 1.22 mark. The franc was 0.9 percent higher against the dollar compared to the New York close, trading at 0.8568 francs per dollar. The franc was down 0.1 percent against the euro at 1.2214 francs per euro.
