US MIDDAY: sugar higher

Raw sugar futures closed higher for the fourth straight day on Friday, lifted by cash activity, while arabica coffee and US cocoa reversed to close down after failing to hold above key technical levels. The key July raw sugar contract rose 0.30 cent to finish at 22.99 cents a lb. On the week, the market is up 2.6 percent, the third straight week of gains.
July arabica coffee futures dropped 1.90 cents to end at $2.6370 per lb. July closed the week up 1.8 percent, the first positive weekly move higher in four weeks. Key July cocoa futures dropped $41, or 1.4 percent, to settle at $2,969 per tonne, after climbing to $3,040 earlier. July closed up 2.3 percent on the week, the first positive week in a month.
