Cashier held for Rs 55 million embezzlement

Accused Ghulam Shabbir s/o Shamsuddin Mahar, Cashier (OG-II) National Bank of Pakistan, Chotki Branch was arrested by NAB Sindh on 26 May 2011, as his non-bailable arrest warrant was issued by DG NAB (S) Major Shabbir Ahmed (Retd). Ghulam Shabbir had misappropriated an amount of rupees 55 million by manipulating the record in the bank, cash-book and State Bank of Pakistan currency book during the course of his appointment as cashier in the branch.
Later on, he admitted his guilt before the bank officials and refunded Rs 1.5 million to the bank and promised to pay back the remaining amount within six months. But he did not pay the due/promised amount to the bank.-PR
