Awami National Party (ANP) is concerned over the killing of its activists in the city after losing an agile worker Imran Niazi to targeted-killing incident in Lyari area. President ANP Niazi Chowk, UC-2 Ward in Lyari, Imran Niazi came under gunfire attack by unknown assailants on Friday morning on Mauripur Road, killing him and wounding ward's vice president Ashraf Niazi, said the party's press release.
Late Imran Niazi's funeral prayer was offered at Pathan Masjid in Moosalane locality of the city and he was laid to rest in the adjacent graveyard. It said that President ANP Sindh chapter, Shahi Syed has offered condolence to the family of slain Niazi and demanded the government to immediately arrest the killers. In a condemnation statement, Syed said party's most active workers are being targeted for killing in the metropolis, which has inflicted irreparable loss to the party. He said the killing of workers is only aimed at disturbing city's peace adding that it is the agenda of those who want to destabilise the country.
According to the press release, the slain worker had survived the gunfire attack on May 7 and was unhurt when unknown people targeted him at close range. Another activist of ANP Nasrullah Niazi who was the former president of the same ward was earlier abducted and killed by unknown men.-PR
