Mango diplomacy kicks off in Sindh

Mango diplomacy kicks off in the circles of politicians, bureaucrats, business community and landlords of Sindh as the people of the said communities used to gift mangoes to each other which reflected more cordiality in all kinds of relations, Business Recorder observes it.
In Sindh, a large number of politicians, landlords are well known for gifting mangoes from their orchards to the bigwigs of politics, bureaucracy and armed forces, business community and other friends and relatives for their personal gains. They have made orchards of the best variety of mangoes only for the purpose of gifting to their beloved friends and relatives.
President of Pakistan and Co-chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari is one of them who has mango orchards in Tando Allahyar and other parts of Sindh, from where he used to gift mangoes to his dearest friends of different walks of life and he used to send mangoes to the bigwigs of international community of politics and business as well.
According to the information collected by the Business Recorder the Speaker of National Assembly Dr Fahmida Mirza and Ex-Home Minister Sindh and Senior President of PPP Sindh Chapter Dr Zulifqar Ali Mirza have the orchards of high quality mangoes in rural area of Badin district. They used to send baskets of mangoes to the friends living in Islamabad and Karachi.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Naveed Qamar's name in gifting of mangoes is also very popular within the circles of Bureaucracy of Islamabad. He owns mango orchards in his constituency Tando Mohammad Khan, from where he used to send mangoes to his friends and relatives residing every nook and corner of the country. Ex-Federal Minister and sitting MNA Nawab Yousif Talpur has mango orchards in district Umerkot; his son MPA Taimoor Khan Talpur is also fond of mango gifting.
Former caretaker Prime Minister late Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi was also fond of mangoes; he had made orchards of mangoes of best variety on about 25 acres land in Naushehroferoze district. His sons the leaders of National Peoples Party (NPP) Ghulam Murataza, Arif Mustafa and Ghulam Mujtaba Jatoi are looking after their father's orchards and they have also continued the trend of their father gifting mangoes to their friends.
Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly, PML-F's leader Jam Madad Ali Khan is also fond of mangoes gifting, he used to gift the first basket of his orchard to his Leader Pir Pagara, who is also fond of mangoes. Jam Madad Ali Khan has the mango orchards in area of Jam Nawaz Ali, district Sanghar.
PML-N's leader Makhdoom Shahnawaz has the mango orchards, from where he used to send the mangoes to his party Leaders Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif and others. Asad Junejo, son of Former Prime Minister Mohammad Khan Junejo, has also the orchards of mangoes in Mirpurkhas district, which have been made only for gifting the people of his circle.
MNA of PPP Roshandin Junejo has the mango orchards in Sanghar; he also used to send baskets of mangoes to his friends of different walks of life. Ex-Provincial Minister Irfan Gul Magsi and Ex-District Nazim Tando Allahyar Ms Rahila Magsi have also the mango orchards which they have made only for gifting their friends. PPP MPA Mir Baboo Talpur's orchards' mangoes are also very popular in circles of PPP; he used to gift mangoes to all of his friends and relatives living in country or abroad.
Mir Baboo's orchards' first basket of mangoes goes to Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhrro, who is not only fond of enjoying the mangoes but also the part of that long list that used to gift mangoes to others. PPP MNA Nawab Ghani Talpur has also the mango orchards in Sheikh Bhirkio area of Tando Mohammad Khan district.
The Jamote family of Matiyari is also well known in the field of mangoes; they have orchards on many acres of land and people of their friends' club were waiting for their mangoes. Not only the bigwigs of politics but also many big names of bureaucracy and business community have also their mango orchards in different parts of province. They also used to send gifts of the best variety of mangoes to their friends in the country and aboard.
Moreover, the officials of Irrigation, Agriculture and Food Departments particularly used to demand from the mango orchard owners for the good variety mangoes for their personal use and for gifting to others as well. It is pertinent to mention here that Mango season has been started in Sindh since 15th of May which will remain continue till the 15th of June. Mango has been cultivated on more than 59,500 hectares of land in various districts of province while the last year's (2010) production of mango was 381,269 metric tonnes.
