Khyber Pakhtunkhwa working on people-friendly budget: Bilour

The provincial government is concentrating on preparing of a people-friendly budget for upcoming financial year 2011-12, which will bring relief and support to poor and low income segment of society. This was stated by Senior Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Parliamentary Leader of ANP, Bashir Ahmed Bilour on Friday, while talking to a delegation here at his residence.
He said no doubt we are nationalist and our mission was to provide an atmosphere of happiness and peace to our Pakhtun brethren but we also wanted solidarity and prosperity for the whole nation. By hoisting the tallest 195 meters Pakistani flag in Jinnah park, he said ANP would prove that it was a patriotic party and neither support separatism nor greater Pakhtunistan adding instead we wanted to bring the neglected people of this resources rich region into national mainstream.
Bashir Bilour maintained that ANP would foil any conspiracy to divide the country on the basis of lingual and regional differences and hoped that provincial government despite the challenges of militancy and last year's destructive flood would succeed in generating as much funds and resources that would be sufficient for years to come.
He said that soon after assuming power ANP constituted a committee under his guidance to point out the issues and problems of Peshawar adding commendably we have recommended 11 underpasses and flyovers and work on all these projects was underway despite financial restraints. "Our special focus was on improvement of road network for upgrading trade activities with Central Asian Countries (CARs) besides streamlining the rush hour traffic in Peshawar".
The Minister further informed that work on widening of Ring Road from 48 feet to 76 feet was in progress for which US would provide about Rs 2 billion, while a new 4.5 kilometer road from Hayatabad Khwar to Jamrud would be constructed that would help heavy traffic bypass the residential town and reach Jamrud without facing traffic mess in congested localities.
"Rs 2 billion flyover at Rehman Baba Squire was underway to rationalise intra-city traffic, while Asfandyar City, which is five time bigger than Hayatabad was meant to address residential problems of people" the minister said and added that a modern Lahore type Shalimar garden with a colourful digital fountain will be established in Shahi Bagh to provided recreational facility to the people of Peshawar.
Bilour informed that a treatment plant for disposing of city garbage would be set-up with a cost of Rs 1.25 billion, which will convert garbage in useful products including urea and fuel. The minister said that we are playing the role of frontline force in an unannounced third world war against militancy and terrorism and have rendered unmatched sacrifices in this struggle adding we deserved special attention and support from both national and international powers.
