Former Foreign Minister, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said despite repeated attacks on sensitive installations and blasts at public places, the government's role is mere of a silent spectator as no heed is being paid to improve worsening law and order situation. Talking to newsmen on Friday, Qureshi said that the sitting government seems to be non-functional in current scenario, which was matter of grave concern.
He said that Defence Committee of Cabinet (DCC) meeting a couple of days before to discuss and chalk out strategies regarding overall security situation across the country has yielded nothing except customary statement. Qureshi said that free and transparent commission to probe the Abbottabad raid has not been constituted yet which indicates that no importance has been given to the issue that hurts country's sovereignty and credibility in the international community. Qureshi said that Pakistan was passing through critical juncture of its history and joint efforts were needed to overcome the situation.
"We can't afford political blame game further and political leadership should unite in the larger interest of the country, and sink the party interests as well as political differences and take the nation into confidence," he added. He said that due to repeated violations and U-turn of pledges, political leadership has lost trust of the masses and they needed to regain confidence of the masses by taking steps for the welfare of country and its people. Qureshi said that commissions and committees constituted for resolving various issues have not born fruit and countrymen consider such practices no more useful but wastage of time and resources. He said that parliament's joint resolution was not implemented as yet which was a question mark on sovereignty of parliament.
