Minister for Water and Power, Naveed Qamar is said to have succeeded in getting Imtiaz Kazi appointed as secretary water and power, after a meeting with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on May 26, 2011. Kazi has spent some time in the ministry of petroleum and natural resources when the latter was petroleum minister.
He was transferred to the ministry of privatisation when Naveed Qamar held that portfolio. Javed Iqbal, secretary water and power has been transferred and posted as secretary railways. Insiders in the ministry of water and power claim that Javed Iqbal lacks the required experience and exposure. He spent most of his career period in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Now, he will join Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, who also hails from KP. Shahid Raja, secretary railways has been transferred and posted as secretary privatisation.
