Three of the gang at the heart of one of the biggest betting scandals to hit European football were jailed for up to nearly four years for fraud by a court in Bochum, Germany on Thursday. During the six-month trial, the court heard how the trio manipulated nearly 300 football games across Europe, including minor Champions League and World Cup qualifiers, by bribing players and officials.
Two of the trio have already served 13 months in custody and all three have been given sentences ranging from three years to three years and 11 months.
