The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi in collaboration with Ferozsons Publishers has launched the book titled "My Life My Country". The book has been written by Parvez Hasan, a well-known Pakistani economist. In his career of more than 50 years in the field of economics, the writer has worked at important positions in various local and international organisations.
Having served at State bank and the World Bank, Parvez Hasan has the highly acclaimed book 'Pakistan's Economy at the Crossroads: Past Policies and Present imperatives' to his credit. Addressing the launching ceremony on Tuesday at IBA city campus, Dr Ishrat Hussain IBA Dean & Director, shared his long association with the writer as an economist and a friend.
He praised Parvez Hasan for penning down an interesting memoir which would be of interest to not only the economists and analysts but also the masses. In an intriguing sequence of thoughts, the book, "My Life My Country" weaves its way through Parvez Hasan's memories as an economist and his keen observation of the Pakistani economic environment, Dr Ishrat said. "Parvez Hasan brings in the book his years of experience as an economist, in a very straightforward and impressive way," he added.
Parvez Hasan said that this book covers Pakistan's phases of development and insights about the leading people who kept Pakistan buoyant in crucial times. "The book is an amalgamation of inside and outside assessment of the Pakistani environment from 1970 to present", he added. He also shared with the audience anecdotes from his life as an economist and his analysis of the current and future Pakistani scenario.
Riaz Riazudding, chief economic advisor, State Bank of Pakistan also appreciated the efforts of Parvez Hasan and said that this book would reveal the economic history of Pakistan and would help the young generation to learn about the country's economy. Various other speakers including Kamran Mirza CEO Pakistan Business Council also shared their views on the book and declared it a candid and insightful analysis of the Pakistani historical and economic scenario.
