ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Engr Muhammad Baligh ur Rahman on Tuesday said that Education Policy 2017 will be a milestone in country's education history.

He stated this while addressing the participants of One-Day Consultative Workshop of Area Governments of Islamabad Capital Territory(ICT), AJK, Gilgit Baltistan and FATA, organized by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.

Around 15 education experts from each area government were invited to attend this consultative meeting.

Speaking during the opening session, Baligh-ur-Rehman shared the background of preparation of Education Policy 2017 with complete consensus of all federating units of the country.

“Pakistan is one of those countries which have shown significant increase in its GDP as compared to previous years. Despite the financial constraints, Government of Pakistan is trying to fulfill its national and international commitments towards provision of quality education to its citizens”, the minister said.

He also mentioned the introduction of Quran Bill under which the children will finish Nazra and translation of Quran by the time they reach 12th grade.

He expressed his hope to see active input of the experts from area education departments for the new education policy.

Earlier, Joint Education Advisor Muhammad Rafique Tahir welcomed the participants of the consultative meeting.

He shared the philosophy of the new education policy which is aimed at providing the guidelines to the education authorities to establish an education system based on demands of fast changing world.

He also informed the audience about completion of pre-school to Grade 5 curriculum for Islamabad Capital territory and preparation of the new textbooks in- line with the new curriculum.

The participants debated, discussed, examined and contributed during round table discussion on each of the chapters of Education Policy.

At the end of the meeting each group presented its findings to all the participants for further deliberations/discussions.

The final recommendation/outcome of the consultative meeting will be incorporated in the National Education Policy 2017.
