Islamabad Police busted two gangs of motorcycle lifters and dacoits and held seven people including five Afghan nationals for their alleged involvement in stealing motorcycles and dacoities from whom two pistols and one stolen motorcycle were recovered.
After receiving many complaints of rise in motorcycle snatching cases SP (Saddar) Dr Khuram Rasheed assigned task to a special police team headed by Station House Officer (SHO) Margalla Muhammad Ashraf Kahut to trace the people behind the crime, said a spokesman of Islamabad Police here on Monday.
The special team succeeded in arresting five Afghan nationals namely Nadir Khan son of Taza Gul, Abdul Hadi son of Khan Jan, Daud Jan son of Gul Khan, Sarwar Khan son of Umer Khan and Jabbbar Khan son of Kala Khan, all hailing from Afghanistan. During the preliminary investigation, the detained persons confessed of stealing 10-motorcycle from sector G-9 and police recovered one motorcycle (LOF-6971) from them.
On a tip off, Shalimar Police nabbed two dacoits Sajjad and Suuny during a raid at their hide out. Two pistols (30-bore) were recovered from them and their three other accomplices Humayun, Shahhid and Nasir managed to escape. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has appreciated the performance of police team who nabbed the criminals and directed to further improve vigilance in their area.
