The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, here on Monday presided over a high level meeting at C M House to review the updated collection revenue and various taxes in the province. He directed the Revenue and Tax Collection departments to pay full attention towards achievement of the targets fixed by the government.
Qaim Ali Shah said that more incentives and rewards would be given to those officials who are working hard with sincerity and not only achieve the targets but also undertake efforts to collect more than the targets. He took serious notice of some of the Sub-Registrars of Revenue Department who had not achieved the targets of Revenue collections and directed that departmental action be initiated against those who are not performing the job according to requirements and showing dereliction of duty.
Chief Minister added that vacant posts in the Revenue Department be filled under prescribed recruitment rules and policy in a transparent manner. With regard to reports of corruption by Tapedars and some of the Mukhtiarkars, he directed the concerned authorities to be vigilant and take prompt action against such officials. Qaim Ali Shah appreciated the overall performance of Sindh Revenue Department and Excise and Taxation Department Sindh and termed it as good.
He hoped that the targets fixed by the government would be completed before June 2011. The meeting also discussed various issues for generation of funds through some taxes and directed the Chief Secretary Sindh to hold meeting of relevant departments so as to prepare some proposals to be discussed before the new budget. Earlier, Sindh Revenue Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar, Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Senior Member Board of Revenue Sindh, Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha, Member, Board of Revenue, Asadullah Dharejo and Secretary Excise and Taxation Department, Manzoor Memon, presented reports pertaining to targets of collection of revenue and taxes.
