Dissolution of HEC: petition filed before LHC

A petition against dissolution of Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has been filed before the Lahore High Court. The petitioner, Advocate Fahad Ahmed Siddiqi, submitted that the mission of the HEC is to facilitate institutions of higher education. He said the government has decided to devolve and dissolve the HEC to the provinces.
The petitioner submitted that the federal government and Implementation commission in respect of dissolution of the Higher Education Commission acted in sheer misuse of their authority. He said the dissolution of the HEC is based upon mala fide intention and ulterior motives of the respondents. He prayed the court to issue directions to the respondents to abstain from dissolving the HEC.
