The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has approved a project worth Rs 151.226 million for construction of storm water drains as well as provision of gully gratings at the 21 drainage deficient locations of city roads with a view to facilitate smooth flow of traffic during rainy season.
The project will be executed before the commencement of forthcoming monsoon.
This was decided in the meeting of LDA Governing Body held here on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by District Co-ordination Officer and Chairman LDA Ahad Khan Cheema, and attended by Director General Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, Additional Director General (Head Quarters) Hafiz Ihsan-U-Haq, Director General (Housing) Irfan Bhatti, Chief Engineer TEPA Saif Ur Rahman and representatives of the provincial local government, housing, planning and development and finance departments besides administrators of the nine constituent towns of the City District Government Lahore.
These projects include construction of storm water drain at Park Lane Gulberg from Firdous Market to 7-Up Chowk, rehabilitation and construction of road side drains around Hussain Chowk (M M Alam Road, Gulberg Lahore), construction of storm water drain at Garhi Shahu Chowk (Allama Iqbal Road Lahore), construction of storm water drain at Lawrence Road disposing into Birdwood Road drain, construction of storm water drain near Race Course Junction at Jail Road along Jelani Park, construction of storm water drain in front of Tollinton Market (Shadman) disposing into LOS Drain at Ferozepur Road, construction of storm water drain in front of Moon Market at Faisal Town from Central Flats to Maulana Shoukat Ali Road, construction of storm water drain from Race Course Road to Governor House Junction, along Mall Road and disposing into drain crossing Governor House and Bagh-e-Jinnah near Kashmir Road, construction of storm water drain at Queens Road in front of Civil Lines Police Station (from Lawrence Road intersection to Red Crescent Building) and construction of storm water drain at Queens Road in front of Civil Lines Police Station (from Lawrence Road intersection to Red Crescent building). It also include providing gully grating chambers and re-instatement of road pavement in Gulberg, Shimla Hill, Samanabad, G T Road, Allama Iqbal Town, Mozang, Aziz Bhatti and Shalamar Towns, Ravi Town and Walled City. The authority also approved to engage evaluators approved by the State Bank of Pakistan for assessment of base price of the plots placed in the auction.
