To bring economic stability in the country, women should be mainstreamed in management and business activities through skill development and training programmes. With this vision, Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) organised two day Islamabad Expo 2011 in collaboration with Khushhali Bank Limited and United Nations industrial development organisation (UNIDO) to eliminate poverty from the society.
Addressing the opening ceremony, President IWCCI Samina Fazil said that to make women financially strong was the main idea behind the Expo. It provides a platform to women to express and share their talent through effectively showcasing their product before the international audience. They get an opportunity to maximise profits and increase export base while exploring trade and business activities. It is a platform for publicity for NGOs and different organisation working for women weal. They could access new market through joint venture and gain mutual benefits, she added.
Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said that there was dire need to concentrate on women issues. Women s' role is very crucial in economic development of any nation and development of any society.
Dr Zille Huma Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Women said that women constitute 52 percent of the population of Pakistan. Women could make vital contribution in the development of any society. It was the manifesto of PPP government to empower women and fight for their well being.
Different stalls were set up on this occasion to showcase products included designer jewellery made of silver, gold and diamonds, hand-woven fabrics and textiles, women's dresses, Pakistani carpets, and trendy fashion accessories, handicrafts and marble made items.
The Pakistan Stone Development Company (Pasdec) in collaboration with United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) displayed marble mosaic and inlay work in Islamabad Expo 2011 Exhibition to highlight the women empowerment culture through skill development programme in Pakistan. All visitors were impressed by the quality and workmanship of displayed products. All of which are now increasingly becoming popular in the whole Middle East market.
