Imran Khan’s advice that changed Wasim Akram forever

Without a doubt, former captain Imran Khan was one of the best cricketers of Pakistan as he managed to lift the only World Cup for the country in 1992.

He just not only played cricket with authority but also produced stars like the great Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Inzamam ul Haq.

In an interview, the ‘King of swing’ Akram shared some old memories of cricket involving Javed Miandad and Imran Khan. He also shared Khan’s advice that changed him forever.

Speaking to Gulf news, Akram said that he is obliged for life to a piece of advice from Khan. “He [Khan] once told me that if you have talent, it will last three to four years. But the hard work you put into your talent will prolong your career. I did exactly that and ended up playing 20 years for Pakistan, and 10 years in between for Lancashire, enjoying every bit of it.”

The master of reverse swing is currently associated with Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans as their director of cricket operations. He had previously worked with Islamabad United as their mentor, who lifted the inaugural PSL title.
