The Karachi Port handled 108,771 tonnes of cargo including 64,504 tonnes of import cargo, 44,267 tonnes of export cargo and 5,312 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 64,504 tonnes comprised of 42,804 tonnes of containerised cargo; 40 tonnes of general cargo; 18,860 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,260 tonnes of wheat; 12,740 tonnes of coal; 4,981 tonnes of DAP; 579 tonnes of yellow peas and 2,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,267 tonnes comprised of 29,462 tonnes of containerised cargo; 953 tonnes of general cargo; 13,652 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,046 tonnes of cement and 7,805 tonnes of wheat. Five ships namely DL Sunflower, APL Shenzhen, MOL Success, TC Gold and Marcampania with oil tanker, two container ships, bulk cargo and containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Two vessels viz Bunga Raya Dua and CSL Ride carrying two container ships respectively are currently at the berths. One wheat carrier namely Black Eagle expected to sail on Tuesday, while four ships namely Shayan-1, CSL Ride, Rois-G and Patton-1 carrying two container ships, wheat carrier and general cargo carrier respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday. Three vessels viz Lodestar Genesis, APL Japan and Mako with chemicals, containers and crude oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz Bow Cedar, Bow Victor, Samon-1, Levander and Hanjin Darling with AV gas, ethanol and three container ships respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
