The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) organised a CFO Conference in Lahore on the theme "Scaling New Heights, Facing New Challenges," which was attended by more than 500 professionals from different walks of life, says a press release received here on Tuesday.
Highlighting the vision of the institute, President ICAP Saqib Masood suggested that similar conferences will be held in future for providing learning and networking opportunities. The guests of Honour and keynote speakers were Dr Ishrat Husain and Hussain Dawood. Besides, speakers of international repute both from the local and foreign markets spoke on various topics of interest.
The interactive panel discussion highlighted the growth prospects and challenges to industry. They forecast industry performance for the year 2011. Ruhail Mohammad, CFO Engro Corporation Limited explained the very interesting case of 'Engro Rupiya.' Syed Azhar Ali discussed the key qualities that helped a CFO rise to the CEO position. Sardar Naufil Mahmud of KESC emphasised the importance of IT in financial decision making.
Mudassar Aqil of Bank Alfalah shared his views and experiences regarding the importance of people, leadership talent and organizsational development from the CFO perspective. Yacoob Suttar, Executive Director Finance & IT of PSO explained the process of managing the financial issues of a company in crisis. Simon Padgett discussed the issues of fraud trends, anti-fraud culture, whistle blowing, hotlines, proactive detection, investigation and recovery.
Badar Khushnood of Google Inc described how technology is changing the role of finance executives. Asher Noor talked about the opportunities available and the characteristics required in professionals seeking opportunities in Saudi Arabia. Concluding remarks were offered by Hafiz Mohammad Yousaf who thanked all the speakers and participants and said that similar activities will be arranged in the future by ICAP.-PR
