An alleged dacoit was killed in a police encounter near Kala Pul in the limits of Defence police station. According to details, two alleged bandits, who were trying to snatch a motorbike from Muhammad Shareef at gunpoint near Kala Pul near Tooba Mosque Defence, were intercepted by police patrolling party.
Instead of surrendering themselves, they offered resistance and fired indiscriminate gunshots on police party. Police retaliated on it and one of the alleged bandits killed while other managed to flee. Police said the alleged bandit, who was later identified as Arshad 22 years old, son of Zulfiqar Baloch and a resident of Azam Basti Mehmoodabad, succumbed to his injuries on the spot during police retaliation.
Police also claimed to have recovered a TT pistol from his possessions and added that the victim was nominated in several offences including robberies, snatching etc by Mehmoodabad and Baloch Colony police stations. The body of Arshad was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem. Police registered a case on the complaint of Mohammad Shareef and initiated probe in this connection.
