The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is all set to perform a decisive role in Punjab and emerge as third option for the people of Pakistan, said Wasay Jalil, member co-ordination committee of the party here on Monday. "People of Punjab will stand for their rights on April 10 (the day MQM will hold a rally in Lahore) and the day would become a day of revolution in the history of the province," he said.
Addressing a press conference at National Press Club, he said that the MQM had formally launched its zonal office in Punjab and established an office by the name of 'Punjab House'. The MQM was fast emerging as a leading political force in the country, he added.
He referred to the vision of his party chief and said Altaf Hussain had been struggling to free the 98 per cent people of the country from the shackles of the corrupt feudal ruling elite. On April 10, he said that the people of the Punjab would prove that they were with the MQM. Earlier, the MQM had announced to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan. However, due to security concerns the venue for the rally was changed and the MQM agree to hold its moot near Gaddafi Stadium and is hopeful that hundreds of thousands of people will turn up in their rally in Lahore. Haider Abbas Rizvi, Waseem Akhter and other leaders of the party were also present on the occasion.
