In response to the recent move by the AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, the federal government had released funds of Rs 53 million against the waved off debts of October 2005, devastating earthquake-hit business community of the state, official sources said.
The sources told APP on Sunday that according to the notification, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had waved off the debts of the quake-hit business community of the state and the concerned debt amount was declared to be paid to the scheduled banks instead of the AJK Small Industries Corporation.
The sources said the AJK Prime Minister Attique, later, took up the matter before the federal government with a request to transfer the funds to the AJK Small Industries Corporation instead of the scheduled banks branches which was too acceded by the federal government. The AJK business fraternity have termed it a revolutionary step initiated on the move of the Prime Minister Sardar Attique.
