Sialkot police have launched a vigorous drive against criminals to protect the life and property of citizen. Police have also focused to unearth active gangs involved in street crime and robberies, which are on the rise in and around Sialkot, said Additional Superintendent of Police, Zahid Mehmood Gondal.
Addressing a hurriedly called news conference here Friday, Gondal said under the campaign, four members of a gang have been apprehended and police is making hectic efforts for arresting two other members of the group. He said that during interrogation, the culprits have confessed involvement in 20 crime incidents including snatching mobile phones, cash, motorcycles and ornaments from people on gunpoint.
He informed that police have recovered two motorcycles, rupees two lakh (0.2 million) cash, 18 mobile phones and modern weapons from the alleged criminals' possession. He said that interrogation is underway and more thrilling revelations are expected, adding that all criminals were released from jail in recent past.
The ASP affirmed that Sialkot Police is making strenuous efforts for elimination of crimes aimed at scaling down their growing graph in Sialkot district. He appealed to people that they should extend their co-operation for weeding out criminals from the gross-root level and keep a vigilant eye on suspected and strange persons in their localities.
