Kenyan tea exports fall in February

Kenyan tea exports, which are the country's biggest foreign exchange earner, dropped 14 percent in February after sales to Egypt were interrupted by the unrest there, the Tea Board of Kenya said on Tuesday. Production in the east Africa country was also down, falling 23 percent to 26.7 million kgs compared with the same month in the previous year.
"The drought affected production in all tea growing regions owing to lower supply of green leaf to the factories," the board said in a statement. Sales to Egypt dropped to 5.7 million kg compared with 9 million kg in February last year.
