Physical activities are important for the healthy growth of young girls. Girls who play sports have better memory and concentration skills and do better in studies and later in life. Gone are the days when parents discouraged their girl child from participating in sports activities.
Today, our young girls have more opportunities to exhibit their talent in sports. Energetic and enthusiastic Ayesha Zaka is one such teenage girl, determines to shine in the sky of sports. Ayesha is a student of class 8th in the Beaconhouse education system. In an interview, she tells us about her interests, studies and achievements. This interview is an attempt to give readers awareness that sports are good for their young daughter's physical, mental and social development.
What is your favourite sport? I love playing every sport and my favourite sport to compete in is throw ball game. Why do you like throw ball game? It is a team game and co-ordination between each player is important factor to win the match. It is a game of discipline and concentration. One constantly moves here and there and keeps eye on the position of the ball. What is your best achievement in sports?
I have been participating in sports competition since my childhood. My best achievement is winning the trophy for my school in throw ball tournament 2011. Individually, I have won the "player of the tournament" award. Who is your favourite player? My favourite players are Shahid Afridi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Maria Sharapoa. These players have great fighting sprit, they are tough competitors and they play intelligently. What benefits do you get from sports activities?
Playing sports are full of fun and enjoyment for me. My sports activities help me stay fit and smart. It gives me opportunity to make new friends and develop my social skills. Being a good team player gives me popularity among my friends and teachers. What have you learnt from your sports activities?
I have learnt that working hard is important to achieve success both in the classroom and in the ground. I learn to work together as a team to get good results. Winning games give confidence and increase my enthusiasm to get more wins for my school and later for my country.
What is good sportsman spirit? Good sportsman spirit is not to tease or misbehave to the opponent players. We should not blame teammates for any mistakes and never argue referees for their decisions. Do sports activities have negative impact on your health? Playing sports is important for good health. Sports improve my stamina and fitness. My teacher says that sports activities keep obesity at bay, help maintaining our weight, and make us healthy and active.
Do you get back up from your family? Yes, my mother and sports teacher are supportive and help me to achieve my athletic dreams. They keep vigilant eye on my mistakes and guide me to improve my performance. My mother appreciates me and always gives me feedback of my performance. This encourages me and I aim to do much better next time.
