With great pride I would like to announce the completion of three years of democratic government. It has been a tumultuous journey in which democratic systems was strengthened and people-friendly programmes initiated.
The path was arduous as the backlog of unaddressed issues of national development were taken on, new strategies devised and process of implementation undertaken. The fruits of our labour has slowly begun to emerge and I am happy to say, a new wave of confidence has begun to bolster the hopes of our countrymen.
Our inspiration has always been our great leaders Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who had the vision and belief in the great destiny of Pakistan. We honour our martyred leaders and promise to renew our efforts to put Pakistan on a fast track to development. Our three years achievement has been a series of multi-dimensional successes. Just to mention a few the historical NFC Award, the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan, Gilgit/Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Order 2009 and diplomatic success on the diplomatic front.
The most significant challenge has been the one we fight as a front line ally in the global war on terror. Pakistan is facing the fail out war on terror. The clearing of militants from Swat by the Army and the rehabilitation of IDPs has to be counted as a resounding success.
Finally I wish to congratulate the whole nation on the completion of three years of democracy. The democratic path is the destiny of Pakistan and together we must safeguard it. I am confident that the sincere efforts of the people's Government can resolve the problems we face today and lead Pakistan towards prosperity and development.
