The Karachi Port handled 130,586 tonnes of cargo including 98,596 tonnes of import cargo, 31,990 tonnes of export cargo and 2,918 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 98,596 tonnes comprised of 23,177 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,885 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,385 tonnes of MOP; 17,500 tonnes of coal and 54,534 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,990 tonnes comprised of 16,106 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,384 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,184 tonnes of cement; 416 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 3,345 tonnes of wheat; 439 tonnes of rice and 9,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Eight ships namely Al-Deerah, Cape Sorrell, Iron Monger-5, Laconia, Sound Future, Aquila Voyager, OEL Trust and Cape Gebriel with oil tanker, containers, oil tanker, three bulk cargo carriers and two container ships sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz Nogogini, King Douglas, OEL Trust, Hanjin Beijiang, Invicta and MSC Jemima carrying two oil tankers, two container ships, bulk cargo carrier and containers respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely MT Quetta, Hanjin Beijiang and MSC Jemima carrying crude oil and two container ships respectively expected to sail on Friday, while two ships namely Ocean Island and Netsanet with coal and MOP are expected to sail on Saturday. Three vessels viz YM South, APL Chicago and Hadis carrying three container ships respectively due to arrive on Friday, while nine vessels viz Bella, Viona, HS Bruckner, CSL Ride, MOL Seabreeze, Calmy Coral, Eleanor D, Marflyn and DE Shan with five container ships, general cargo and three wheat carriers respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
Three container ships namely CV Dubai Express, CV Anglia and CV MSC Oslo sailed out to sea on Friday morning. A total number of six vessels viz CV Dubai Express, CV Anglia, CV MSC Oslo, MV Alaska-II, MV Four Nabucco and MV Mass Merit are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice and canola seeds respectively during last 24 hours.
Two ships namely Glory and Mako carrying containers and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz CV Glory, CV MSC Magali, MT North Fighter and MT Mako scheduled to load/offload two container ships, chemicals and furnace oil carrier respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Friday. One container ship namely CV Antji Wulff is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday.
