Representatives of Nishat Mills and D G Khan Cement presented their financial and future plans to the investors in the Corporate briefing programme held at Lahore Stock Exchange. Hassan Mansha, Chairman Nishat Power and Director Nishat Mills, Badarul Hassan CFO Nishat Mills and Inayatullah Niazi Director CFO DG KC were present on the occasion.
Nishat Group representatives told the participants that Nishat Group is one of the leading and most diversified business groups in South East Asia with fixed/current assets of over Rs 300 billion ($ 4 billion), it ranks amongst the top five business houses of Pakistan.
The group has strong presence in three most important business sectors of the region namely, textile, cement and financial services. In addition, the Group has also reasonable market share in insurance, power generation, paper products and aviation.
They said it has also distinction of being one of the largest players in each sector. The group has remarkable position in the market as good as any multinationals operating locally in terms of its quality of products, services and management skills.
Mansha and representatives of the group told the participants that Nishat Mills is the largest composite unit in Pakistan while the DGKC is the second largest cement plant in Pakistan and considered the best in Asia. NML is focusing on retail network expansion and Nishat Linent Trading Co has been established in Dubai, UAE for the purpose. They expressed the view that while Nishat Mills has ample cotton stocks available secured by long-term contracts, the current increase in prices of cotton may cause some serious problems for small players in the textile industry.
They said DGKC is focusing on reducing its cost of production by exploiting alternate energy sources and has also installed a power generation plant which will not only provide for the plant but also will have surplus supply available to be sold to Wapda. The world's largest vertical cement grinding mill has also been installed at the plant in 2009. DGKC and NML also presented their latest financials on the occasion.
The presentation by Nishat Group companies was the fourth programme of this series that has received a lot of praise from the investment fraternity since its launch. Representatives of Engro Corporation, Arif Hahib Corpn and Treet Corporation have already organised their briefing under this programme.
