Renowned climber of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Hassan Sadpara will leave to Nepal on March 24 to climb the World's highest peak Mount Everest without using oxygen. Ghulam Raza Haideri, Member Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) and the district president of MQM hosted a farewell party here on Wednesday in this regard. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zarq Mira was the chief guest of the party and a large number of people participated.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the government was making all out efforts for the promotion of tourism in GB. He said the number of tourists had increased after the region was renamed, adding, only about 10,000 tourists come here every year in past but now 25,000 tourists had visited the region during last year. He said a mountaineering school was being established in GB to train the local climbers.
Speaking on the occasion, Hassan Sadpara said, it was his ambition to scale Mount Everest in 2007 but he could not do so due to financial problems. He said that he was very thankful to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari for sponsoring expedition and now he was optimistic to succeed the mission.
