Hard red winter wheat basis bids were mostly steady in the US Plains on Monday in quiet trade, dealers said. There were no new farmer sales, but deliveries against the March contract continued, dealers said. Grain was loaded onto barges in north-eastern Oklahoma, a dealer said. Premiums on hard red winter wheat in Kansas City were 3 to 5 cents lower.
Portions of Kansas and Oklahoma received light rain over the weekend, but the planted wheat crop throughout the Plains needs more moisture. Dry and warm weather was expected in the central and southern US Plains over the next 10 days. Kansas City Board of Trade HRW wheat futures ended higher on Friday with the May up 14 cents at $8.45.
