Argentine soy prices slip in post-holiday correction

BUENOS AIRES: Argentina's closing soy prices and trends on Monday:

* Soy prices in Rosario closed down at between 1,160 and 1,190 pesos per tonne ($271-$278) as the market factored in CBOT losses on Thursday and Friday when the local market was closed for a holiday. Soy closed at 1,199 pesos in the previous session.

* Trade volume shrank to 3,500 tonnes, down from 15,000 in Wednesday's session.

* Soybean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade closed higher on Monday, rallying on a short-covering bounce after the spot contract dipped to a 14-month low below $11 a bushel, traders said.

* In Rosario, soybeans for May 2012 delivery, priced in US dollars, closed down at $265 from between $270 and $275 per tonne in the previous session.

* In the southern grains ports of Quequen and Bahia Blanca, the oilseed traded at 990 pesos per tonne.
