KARACHI: All Town Associations of Trade and Industry in the city on Monday announced their full support to the leadership of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in raising voice against KESC for its alleged "unjustified" long power breakdowns in industrial areas.
Addressing a press conference here at KCCI secretariat, Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) and former president KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli, President KCCI Mian Abrar Ahmed, former president KCCI Muhammad Zubair Motiwala and the Chairmen of seven associations of trade and industry including of Bin Qasim and Super Highway industrial estates said the entire business community of the city is united for their general cause of protecting the industry from serious damages caused by long power breakdowns.
Chief Coordinator of Pakistan Council of Textile Associations and Chairman Pakistan Apparel Forum , Muhammad Jawed Bilwani told APP that all textile associations of the country would stand with KCCI struggling for the welfare of trade and industry. They criticised KESC management for serving legal notices to Siraj Kassam Teli and President KCCI Mian Abrar Ahmed who, they maintained, had pointed out the shortcomings in KESC distribution power system especially in industrial zones.
Siraj Kassam Teli said more than 17,000 industrial units existed in the city and its suburbs, and around 8 million people are directly linked to these industries.
They claimed that KESC has 98 percent recovery from these industrial zones.
The business leaders urged the Government that it would be better to take over KESC and offered full support on behalf on the business community.
