PPP leadership committed to resolve public issues: Rehman Malik

imamnmnISLAMABAD: Pakistan People's Party (PPP), under the dynamic leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is committed to resolve public issues in the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik said here on Monday.

"PPP is a party of masses and it believes in service-oriented politics and serving the common man on their doorsteps," he said while talking to AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, who called on him here.

He assured the AJK PM to cooperate in improving law and order situation in the valley, saying that the federal government has been extending its full cooperation to the AJK government and would continue in future in this regard.

AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed thanked Rehman Malik for ensuring peaceful conduct of Ashura in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and opening up a passport office in Islamgarh to facilitate the locals.

He also appreciated the federal government for taking keen interest in progress and development of AJK.

Meanwhile, PPP President Balochistan and Provincial Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani also called on the Federal Minister and discussed matter relating to the province including passport facilities, law and order situation.

Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah also held a separate meeting with Rehman Malik and discussed the arrangements made for Ashura in GB, which ensured peaceful observance of the holy month of Muharram.

Mehdi Shah said that Rehman Malik has agreed to deploy more FIA personnel at the Sust border and Khunjerab post to ensure security to tourists and traders coming from China.
