A seminar on Karachi Transportation Improvement project (Social Environment Component) was held here on Wednesday. It was organised by Environmental Management Consultants (EMC) in collaboration with Karachi City District Government (CDGK) and Japan International Co-operation Agency (Jica).
The Karachi Transportation Improvement project was kicked off in April last year and is still in planning stages. The planning of the project is based on two phases, and 60 percent work on Phase-I has almost been completed. Under the project, two surveys were carried out and, as a part of this project, Household Interview Survey (HIS) was also taken. Some 25,000 households were interviewed in the survey and another Social Environmental Study was also carried out onwards January 13, 2011 in this regard. The Director General of Mass Transit Program of CDGK, Zaheer-ul-Islam, EMC CEO Nadeem Arif, and Saquib Ejaz Hussain, Khurram Shams addressed the seminar.
