A comprehensive strategy for infusing quality in the education system and for providing jobs to the teachers on merit is being implemented after taking the PPP leadership and the coalition partners in the Sindh Government into confidence.
"In that regard neither a favour will be done to any nor pressure from any side will be tolerated," Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul- Haq said here on Sunday while addressing a ceremony organised by Pakistan Heritage Preservation Society in collaboration with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur, at Sindhi Language Authority.
The minister said despite stringent implementation on the merit system, some teachers in connivance with officials of the Education Department managed to secure transfer orders and in some instances even fake appointments were made as well.
However, the Department was lodging cases against them, he added. The minister informed that Rs 40 million were being spent by the Education Department to provide scholarships to the students of 23 public and private sector educational institutions.
"We are gradually increasing the sanctioned amount of the endowment fund and from the next year 1,000 scholarships will be provided against 750 this year," he added.
