Trade activities via Zero-Point trade gate of Pak-Iran border in border town of Taftan were kicked off once again on Saturday after a period of over six months. Iranian government had closed Zero-Point trade gate on 15th July 2010 after violence erupted in Iranian province of Sistan Balochistan.
The closure of the Zero-Point had caused troubles to people living in areas on both sides of the border as shortage of edibles and others items were reported from there. Following the request of the Pakistani government and keeping in view the sufferings of the people living along border in the two countries, Iranian government directed relevant Iranian border force officials to reopen Zero-Point trade gate on 26th January 2011. However, trade activities resumed on Saturday, 29th January, as there were holidays in Iran on Thursday and Friday.
