Internal debt stands at Rs 5.13 trillion, external at $53.654 billion: National Assembly informed

Total internal loan obtained by the government as on November 30, 2010 stood at Rs 5,130.9 billion. According to information provided to the National Assembly Secretariat, total amount of external loans disbursed and outstanding on December 31, 2010, was $53,654 million, comprising $44,918 million public and publicly guaranteed loans and $8,736 million taken from IMF.
The stock as of 31st December, 2010 in respect of internal loans will be compiled towards the end of January 2011. However, as of November 30, 2010 the internal loans obtained by the government stood at Rs 5,130.9 billion.
Similarly, according to information provided to the National Assembly Secretariat, total amount of external loans disbursed and outstanding as on January 1, 2008, was $39,307 million, comprising $37,872 million public and publicly guaranteed loans and $1,435 million from IMF. As of January 1, 2008, the internal loans obtained by the government stood at Rs 2,882.5 billion.
