The Karachi Port handled 122,541 tonnes of cargo including 93,320 tonnes of import cargo, 29,221 tonnes of export cargo, 3,639 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 93,320 tonnes comprised of 20,176 tonnes of containerised cargo; 204 tonnes of general cargo; 1,346 tonnes of rock phosphate and 71,594 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,221 tonnes comprised of 24,542 tonnes of containerised cargo; 540 tonnes of general cargo; 4,139 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,522 tonnes of wheat and 2,617 tonnes of cement. Six ships namely Sichem Melbourne, Lt Genova, Ocean-7, Cap George, Resolve and Busan Express with oil tankers, containers, tug, containers, car carrier and containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eight vessels viz Alpine Athelia, Defney, Surreal, Cardonia, Afamia, Resolve, Wan Hai-603 and TS Tokyo carrying oil tanker, general cargo, bulk cargo, containers, bulk cargo, car carrier and containers respectively are currently at the berths.
A container ship namely Cardonia expected to sail on Friday, while two ships namely Defney and Alpine Athelia with general cargo and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. Six vessels viz Oriental Marguerite, MT Karachi, Positano, Hanjin Rome, APL Chicago and Gora carrying base oil, crude oil, containers and rice respectively due to arrive on Friday, while ten vessels viz Loi Hope, Stena Paris, Kota Arif, Silver Craft, YM Europe, MOL Success, OEL Trust, Jang San, Panama Express and CNF Lions with ethanol, naphtha, containers, rice, general cargo and wheat respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
A container ship namely CV Dubai Express sailed out to sea on Friday morning. A total number of eight vessels viz MV Glory, CV Dubai Express, Kimono-A, MV Island Star, MV Rana, Suchada Naree, Trans Ocean and Blue Sea are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, wheat, sugar and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely Alexi-1, Saudi Hofuf, Iron Monger-5, Al-Soor-II, MSC Jade and New Legent Fortune carrying cement, containers, fuel oil, diesel oil, containers and project cargo respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz MSC Jade, Saudi Hofuf and Al-Soor-II are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
