The Federal Government has provided Rs 4.2 billion as "Rabi Assistance Package" on the basis of 50:50 ratios of federal and provincial shares for supply of free seed and fertiliser to flood affected areas.
In written reply to a question, Minster for Food and Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal Wednesday told the National Assembly that the amount disbursed was as Rs 1200/acre, in Punjab, Rs 1440 million for 1200,000 acres, Sindh Rs 1680 million for 1400,000 acre land, KPK, Rs 240 million for 200,000 acres, Balochisrtan, Rs 638.40 million for 532000 acres, AJK, Rs 76.800 million for 64000 acres and in Gilgit-Baltistan, Rs 26.280 million for 21,900 acres.
The Minster said that Punjab has allocated Rs 2.603 billion to cover an area of 10,74740 acres in 7 flood-affected districts. Sindh has allocated Rs 3.360 billion to cover an area of 14, 00,000 acres in 15 flood affected districts, he said. He said that Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa has allocated Rs 0.480 billion to cover an area of 200,000 acres in 12 flood affected districts and Balochistan has distributed 3368.25 tons of wheat seed; with value of Rs 0.101 billion for an area of 67365 acres in 11 flood affected districts.
