Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has convened party's high level meeting on Thursday to be briefed on the progress made so far on his 10-point reforms agenda forwarded to the government, giving it 45 days to implement it, otherwise the party would have no other option but to take tough stance.
Sources in the party said that the PML-N economic team will brief the meeting and the party's chief regarding the progress made in the last three meetings held with the government's committee on the reforms agenda. Chaired by PML-N chief, the meeting will be held at Punjab House here in the Federal Capital.
The sources said that the PML-N's four-member committee's head, Senator Ishaq Dar will brief the meeting on the outcome of the meetings they held with the economic team of the government, headed by Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh. A senior party member said that PML-N was not much satisfied with the progress made so far on the agenda, as 17 days have passed after the Prime Minister gave assent that PML-N's 10 point agenda to be implemented in toto. He said that no viable step has been taken by the government on this count.
The sources said that some important decisions are expected to be taken in the meeting to get implemented the reforms agenda effectively. It is pertinent to mention that the PML-N had given 45 days to the government to implement a 10-point reforms agenda forwarded by the party, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani assented to it on ninth of this month and the government was asked by the party's chief Mian Nawaz Sharif to implement it until February 20.
