Country to have 20 percent less than normal winter rainfall: Met Office

A weak westerly system would enter the country by end January, which may cause rain in northern parts of the country. According to Met office sources there are 80 percent chances that winter rainfall from January to March on all Pakistan basis will be below normal by 20 per cent.
January would have below normal rain, February may receive slightly below normal rain and March may receive normal rain, elaborated the weather pundits. Meanwhile, smog would continue for another 10 to 15 days in plains of Punjab. Mountain areas would remain in the grip of severe cold for another few days. Kalam had minimum minus 14 degree centigrade, Skardu minus 11, Hunza minus 10 and Kalat minus 09 degree centigrade. During last 24 hours weather remained cold and dry. Plains of Punjab experienced smoke induced haze. Residents of these areas faced mobility problem. District Sialkot experienced fog and visibility was 5 metres in some areas.
