The International Customs Day emphasises the significance attached to the status which Pakistan Customs occupies within the community of International Customs. I sincerely congratulate Pakistan Customs on the eve of International Customs Day. Pakistan being part of international community is fully aware of its role and responsibilities.
Customs being an interactive organisation has never lagged behind in fulfilling its national as well as international commitments as a responsible organisation. Pakistan Customs being an active member of the Internal Customs family, interacts with Customs organisation of other countries under the aegis's of global Customs. It is, therefore, natural that it has not been left untouched by the wind of change that is blowing through the public organisations across the globe. Being professional organisation, it has the ability to meet challenges of modern times. Being conscious of it role in present era, it has adopted modern tools, gadgets and information technology for its day to day operations during law few years.
Unlike most of other public sector organisations, Customs was among very few departments which underwent computerisation and today most of its processes are carried out electronically. The initiatives like automated clearances, electronic processing have been commended by any international organisations. I am confident that all the officers and staff of Pakistan Customs will strive hard to make their contribution in protecting the economic and security interests of the country in co-ordination with other organisations of the world with the help of information technology in this rapidly changing of world.
This Customs day ie January, 26th 2011 shall hopefully introduce a new chapter in the history of Customs by achieving excellence as a world class organisation which will endeavour to achieve national cause of economic development and prosperity.
