An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted Northern Areas, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federal Capital of the country at 7:45 am on Monday. The epicenter of quake lied in Tajkistan, 530 km north of Islamabad with 83km depth.
Severe tremors were felt in North Waziristan, Mansehra, Chitral and adjacent areas while moderate earthquake was felt in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, spokesman of Pakistan Met Office said. The met office termed the earthquake as moderate in the seismically active zone with no forecast of after shocks, while no loss of life or property was reported.
