During tenure of General Pervez Musharraf (Retd), a high-level technical committee on water, headed by a well-known irrigation expert A N G Abbasi with status of federal minister, was formed. Nevertheless, all the members of the committee were deliberately nominated by Musharraf as they were pro-Kalabagh Dam project to please one province Punjab.
As far as recommendations of A N G Abbasi Technical Committee Report were concerned, these were very important and valuable, but unfortunately, the federal government did not benefit from it so far. Now it is high time that the Sindh government adopt the said report, particularly recommendations made therein by A N G Abbasi himself as official stand of Sindh on water issue. At the same time, federal government should get maximum benefit from the comprehensive Abbasi report by retrieving it from the dustbin as it was prepared after hectic efforts.
