Judicial Commission (JC) headed by Chief Justice Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has recommended expulsion of 10 out of 34 additional judges of Lahore High Court (LHC).
The LHC sources told business recorder the ousted additional judges include Justice Mansoor Akbar Kokab, Justice Hafiz Abdul Rehman Ansari, Justice Tariq Javed, Justice Muhammad Naseem Akhtar Khan, Justice Muhammad Anwar Bhaur, Justice Mian Shahid Iqbal, Justice Shaukat Umar Pirzada, Justice Syed Akhlaq Ahmad, Justice Waqar Hassan Mir and Justice Hassan Raza Pasha.
Justice Mansoor Akbar Kokab, Justice Hafiz Abdur Rehman Ansari and Justice Tariq Javed have already been given an additional year through a judge by Supreme Court, as their one-year tenure as additional judge was lapsed on September 15, 2010. While one-year tenure of remaining ejected additional judges was to be lapsed in February next as they were appointed on February 19, 2010. The JC termed the appointments of these expelled additional judges, as based on political consideration or favouritism.
The commission will forward its recommendations to Parliamentarian Commission for final approval. If these recommendations are approved by the parliamentarian commission, the strength of judges in LHC would become to 32. At present 42 judges are working in the LHC including eight confirmed and 34 additional judges.
