KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar has said that work on renovation and restoration of parks managed by KMC was started and these historical and big parks will soon be opened for public.
He said KMC using its own resources, engineers and labors for renovation and restoration of parks managed by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to preserve them, according to a statement on Monday.
He said this on a visit of ST-5 Clifton which now being converted into Pakistan's first road safety park.
He was with the parliamentary leader in city council Aslam Afridi, parks committee chairman Khurram Farhan, land committee chairman Arshad Hassan, director design S.M Taha, director municipal Services Nauman Arshad, director technical S.M Shakaib, SSP Traffic South Aijaz Shaikh, SSP Traffic Korangi Aijaz Hashmi, DSP Traffic Clifton Mohammad Tahir and other officers on this occasion.
The Mayor said it was essential to increase the number of trees and plants in the city to deal with the air pollution problems and save the citizens from various diseases.
He said KMC already started tree plantation campaign in the city and so far plants have been planted in different parks including Amir Khusro Park, Bagh Ibne Qasim, KPT Fly over surrounding area and alongside Sharea Faisal, Korangi Main Road and in other areas of Karachi.
He said the traffic police was cooperating fully with the KMC and awareness in public about road safety rules and other such rules would be provided in this park.
He said the elected local government leadership was fulfilling the people's expectations. He also directed the parks committee to survey all the parks and submit the report on their rehabilitation and renovation. The Mayor Karachi condole with the families of victims of road accident.
