Despite tall claims of Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik for taking stern measures to stop targeted killings in the metropolis, an activist of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H) on Monday gunned down within the limits of Brigade police station.
The victim Naseem alias Bhayya, 42, was ambushed by unidentified armed pillion riders when he was sitting near mobile phone tower located at Juttland Lines. He had received five gunshot wounds. He was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) through Chhippa ambulance service where he succumbed to his injuries. Police said the armed assailants after targeted the victim, who was a taxi driver by his profession and also associated with MQM-H, managed to flee from the scene.
They said the deceased was the father of four children and he was the resident of Juttland Lines area. Later his body was given to his family after completing the legal formalities. Shops and markets were closed and tension gripped in the area after the incident. MQM-H Amir Khan group leader Feroz Haider condemned the targeted killing of his worker and demanded to the government to take immediate action for the arrest of the culprits. No case was registered till filing the report.
