A portrait has recently appeared in a section of press, showing head and eyebrows of a 45-year-old woman shaved in Larkana allegedly by her former husband. The couple has one dozen children, including three girls and nine boys.
Zohra has narrated an ordeal about worst torture exerted by her former husband Abdul Sattar Metlo, who is now absconding.
Torturing and insulting women have unfortunately become a matter of pride in our society, particularly in rural areas, that is wrong and unacceptable. It was reported that Metlo, due to continuous unemployment, became drug addict like thousands of other people residing in Sindh.
Unemployment on large-scale in Sindh is creating numerous problems as its natural resources are being utilised by others. The government should take effective steps to safeguard the rights of women and create more job opportunities for people so that they should not cause social problems out of frustration.
